Phantom Paint Protection Film Inc. operates as Phantom PPF, a paint protection film shop in Calgary, Alberta. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us, and what we do with it.
If anything here is unclear, ask us. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
The law we follow
We’re an Alberta business, so Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) governs how we handle personal information.
When personal information crosses a provincial or national border, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) can apply as well.
Who is responsible
Phantom Paint Protection Film Inc. is responsible for the personal information we hold or control. That includes information a service provider handles on our behalf.
Our Privacy Officer answers questions about how we handle personal information. You can reach the Privacy Officer by email at sales@phantomppf.com or by phone at +1 403 805 8982.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote or book
Our quote and booking form is run by Urable, a separate company whose booking tool opens on our website. The form asks for your contact details, your vehicle and the services you’re interested in. It may also ask whether you’d like appointment reminders or offers.
Urable may change its form over time. Whatever the form asks for when you use it is what we receive.
When you call or email us
We receive whatever you choose to tell us, along with your phone number or email address.
When we work on your car
If we work on your car, we keep the details we need for that job and for any warranty question afterwards.
When you visit the website
Like most websites, ours runs on servers that may record basic technical details about each visit. These can include your IP address, your browser type, the pages you request and the time of your visit. We use them to run the site and protect it from misuse.
Cookies have their own section below.
Why we use it
We use personal information to:
- reply to your questions and prepare quotes
- book appointments and contact you about your car and the work
- keep records of the work we do
- send appointment reminders or offers, if you’ve agreed to get them
- keep our website working and secure
- meet our legal obligations
We won’t use your information for a new purpose without telling you first. Where the law requires it, we’ll ask for your consent.
Your consent
When you contact us, we use what you give us for the purposes on this page.
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by letting our Privacy Officer know. If that means we can’t finish something you asked for, such as booking an appointment, we’ll tell you.
Emails and texts from us
Canada’s anti-spam law allows promotional emails and texts only with your consent. It requires each one to identify the sender, include contact details and offer a free, simple way to unsubscribe, and it sets the time limit for acting on an unsubscribe request.
To stop promotional messages from us, use the unsubscribe option in the message or contact our Privacy Officer. Unsubscribing from offers won’t stop messages about an appointment you’ve booked.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
- With service providers who work for us. Examples are our booking tool provider and the company that hosts our website. Their own privacy policies also apply.
- When you ask us to, or agree to it.
- When the law requires it.
Service providers outside Canada
Some of the companies we rely on are based outside Canada. Information they handle for us may be stored or accessed in another country, and that country’s laws apply there.
- Urable runs our quote and booking form. Urable is based in the United States, and its privacy policy says information may be stored in the United States or in other countries where Urable or its providers operate. See Urable’s privacy policy.
- Google provides the map on our website. Information Google receives may be processed outside Canada. See the Google Privacy Policy.
If we add other online tools, such as analytics or advertising services, the companies that provide them may also handle information outside Canada.
To get written information about how we use service providers outside Canada, or to ask a question about it, contact our Privacy Officer.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies do the same job in other ways. Our website may use them for the purposes below.
To make the site work. Some are needed for the site to display and run properly. We use these only for that.
Embedded services. Some pages show a Google map, and our quote form loads from Urable when you open it. When either one loads, your browser sends information such as your IP address and the page you’re on to the company that provides it, and that company may set its own cookies. Its privacy policy applies.
Analytics and advertising. We may use analytics tools to learn which pages people visit, and we may advertise online. These tools can use cookies to count visits, to show our ads to people who have visited our site, and to tell us whether an ad led to an enquiry. They may collect details such as your browser type, your IP address, the pages you viewed and the time of your visit.
Cookies don’t give us access to your device or the files on it.
Your choices
- Browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, and your browser’s help pages explain how. Blocking some cookies can stop the map or the quote form from working. If that happens, call or email us.
- Interest-based ads. You can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies with the AdChoices Canada tools.
Opting out applies to the participating companies, in the browser and on the device where you set it. It doesn’t remove ads, and companies that don’t take part may still choose ads based on your browsing.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we reasonably need it for business or legal purposes. Once we no longer need it, we destroy it or remove anything that could identify you.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information safe from loss and from people who shouldn’t see it.
No website or email system is completely secure. Please don’t send payment card numbers or other sensitive details through the quote form or by email.
If a breach happens
Personal information we control could be lost, or someone could access or disclose it without permission. If that happens and a reasonable person would consider there is a real risk of significant harm to anyone, we’ll report it to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, and to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada where federal privacy law applies, and we’ll notify the people affected, as the law requires.
Seeing and correcting your information
You can ask us:
- for access to the personal information we hold about you
- how we’ve used it, and who we’ve shared it with
- to correct information that’s wrong
Send your request in writing to our Privacy Officer. We’ll respond within the time the law sets, and if we need longer where the law allows it, we’ll tell you.
There’s no charge to ask for a correction. If the law allows a reasonable fee for access and one applies, we’ll give you a written estimate first.
Questions and complaints
Please contact our Privacy Officer first, and we’ll try to resolve it with you.
If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. If your concern involves information that crossed a provincial or national border, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada may also be able to help.
Links to other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as our social media pages and Google Maps. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We aren’t responsible for how they handle your information, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices change or the law does. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
